Amazing food and service
This review relates to the Knowel resturant. Really good place to eat. Good quality food at a reasonable price. It wasn't very busy at the time we went so was really comfortable. Marian our waiter was really knolegable about all the menu and beverages and allowed us to eat and enjoy our time without interrupting, he did offer advice to my son who had the full lobster 🦞 my son said that he would try to eat it without but then realised he needed a little help in how to get the meat out of the claws, Marion showed him how to do it. It is a place to go for a special occasion but also just for a night out that really won't break the bank. I would whole heartily recommend Loch Fyne and will definitely be going back again soon. Oh and I almost forgot. We had the Hagis Scoch egg for starters which was so so tasty it was cooked to absolute perfection.

Dreadful
I have had some dreadful meals at LF Ascot in recent years. I have been a customer right from the beginning when it was privately owned, quality controlled and fantastic.

I had a business meal and my customer wanted to go to LF in Ascot. To cut to the chase, the main courses arrived stone cold, no steak knife for meat (which I had to request) which was like shoe leather, mussels were freezing cold and we had to send the plates back to be put under the grill to be warmed again and even then they weren't hot but I didn't have the time to send them back again and re-heating three times is probably unwise.

Inevitable unsettled stomach during the night.

Very very disappointed and definitely 100% the last time I ever set foot in one of their restaurants again.

The waitress was pleasant.

Very disappointing
Very disappointing. Lobster Bisque lacking in flavour. Bread inappropriate flavour. Chips very dry. Scallops very small only 1 of 6 had roe attached no bread provided to mop up garlic butter sauce. Only ones seated in back of restaurant no ambience whatsoever. Lobster overcooked. Service poor. Forgot to bring drinks white wine warm. Got 1 meal of 3 wrong so had to carry on without our guest. We go out of our way to go to Loch Fyne on our annual trip to Scotland but this is the last time have had better on Oban harbourside. Very overpriced now as quality of service and food gone down hill. Take away service too limited too.

I had some great meals at Loch-Fyne in…
I had some great meals at Loch-Fyne in Oxford and took my late mother there for Christmas meal some years ago.

Mum had the tower for two as did my sister, not to share, one tower each!

Whitebait has always been my favourite starter at any Loch-fyne.
However another trip for a Mothers day meal I had a badly cooked portion of Whitebait that caused some problems, the fish was extremely crispy and most had burst I assumed from being over cooked.

In about ten minutes I was feeling a little short of breath and covered in bumps, a double dose of Piriton and an afternoon in bed cured it but has left me with a long term sensitivity to oily fish.

The Oxford restaurant has since closed.

Just before lockdown shut everything I was with a group that wanted to eat at Gunwarf Keys Loch-Fyne, so I mentioned my Oxford experience and we had Italian instead.

I miss the food but do not want to take the risk again.

Been dining with Loch Fyne for nearly…
Been dining with Loch Fyne for nearly 20 years, it’s our absolute go too when we want fish for dinner. Visited Woburn this evening and was so disappointed. My husband and I both opted for the whole sea bass , green vegetables and new potatoes. The staff were very vague and confused, we were approached again for our order after we had already placed it. The food literally arrived within minutes. The order was wrong , the waiter was unsure of how the fish was cooked as one should of been grilled the other pan fried. The butter placed on top of the fish was ice cold and hadn’t begun to melt. The veg was cold , the potatoes were clearly microwaved. It felt like no care had been taken with the whole meal and presentation. Our table was sticky and felt dirty when I asked for it to be cleaned I was told it wasn’t dirty , it was just old as the varnish had worn off. It was so unpleasant it has put me off ever dining with them again. Gutted.

18/05/2021 -Dined at Loch Fyne in Wokingham, friendly hostess on arrival, lovely service and food to die for. I really do like this particular branch. Am a regular at Winkfield, this needs a deep clean as the seats are dirty, the garden needs a good deep cleaning too, looks outdated, so I intend to frequent the Wokingham branch as We really enjoyed their food and the food was very fresh, so thank you Wokingham branch!!

Amazing Service Loch Fyne Gunwharf
Went to Loch Fyne Gunwharf back in October (sorry for the delay!) but I had to comment because it was AMAZING! My table was treated like royalty, nothing was too much trouble. We had the seafood platter one time, and the lobster another. The team were very knowledgable about which sides and accompaniments would work best each time. All the food was lovely as was the recommended bottle of wine. Rob served me and Suzy helped. They were absolutely fantastic. Jenny at the bar was also very knowledgeable. I went to Loch Fyne Gunwharf way back in September for my Mum’s birthday and the service again was amazing and my mum was delighted. It was fairly soon after lockdown lifted and the team made us feel very comfortable. Well done to the whole team, I will definitely be coming back!

Poor experience of Loch Fyne Ascot!
We were taken to lunch by a dear friend. On arrival at Loch Fyne Ascot we were warmly greeted and shown to our table. A waiter came and introduced himself and gave us our menus. We explained at that point we had a voucher for 25% off, which he acknowledged. We placed our drinks order and then our food order. My wife and I had Mussels and our friend had a prawn cocktail. The food arrived and the prawn cocktail was very disappointing, just a handful of lettuce with some prawns tossed on top with a spoonful of Marie Rose sauce. Pretty poor! The mussels were ok but nothing to write home about and some of them were a little slimy.

We ordered our main course and my wife had Fish Pie which she said was lovely, while my friend and I ordered Ribeye steak. He wanted his cooked medium and I wanted medium rare. When the steaks arrived after a mouthful or two of mine it was evident that my steak was almost blue, hardly touched by the heat and my friends medium was more medium rare. I called the waiter and made a small complaint without sending the steaks back. We didn’t want to have wait even more time for our food. I just asked if he would pass on some constructive criticism to the chef, who certainly needs to understand how to cook steak.

We had desert and coffees then asked for the bill. The waiter brought the bill and said I’ve taken 25% off the bill because of the steaks not being cooked correctly. I then questioned the waiter and said have you taken our 25% off for the voucher? He replied “I didn’t know you had a voucher” and continued to take the card for payment. I told him he knew that we had a voucher because he acknowledged this when we first sat down.

Sadly he didn’t want to give any further discount for the poorly cooked steaks and stuck at the 25% that he claimed was for the steaks. I commented that he had conned us by making us think he was doing something favourable for the steaks. Nothing further was taken off the bill so we left, without leaving a tip.

Sadly for Loch Fyne this has affected my opinion of their company and their staff and I will not be returning. Unfortunately Loch Fyne probably don’t even give a damn!

We used to visit the Loch Fyne in Ascot until recently, last time I had a dicky stomach after eating there, stomach pain and visits to the loo every hour or so. Maybe the Food standards should check the place out.
